Who you are hiring.

DBOS Systems is led by Ray, founder and architect, with a small team of specialists across Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany. Twenty six years of it, from service management to enterprise architecture to platforms that had to stay up.

Who is Ray?

Twenty six years in IT, most of it spent where the technology meets the people who have to live with it. Service management first, then enterprise architecture, then high transaction platforms at Dell, BMC, Synaxon and Lufthansa. Large organisations, large systems, and a long education in what goes wrong when software is bought rather than designed.

DBOS came out of the opposite end of that. Small businesses run the same problems as large ones, with none of the budget and none of the staff, and the industry's answer has been to sell them ten tools that do not speak to each other. So the platform was built, and the practice was built around it.

Does IT control you, or do you control IT?

Founded in Ireland. Based in Larnaca, Cyprus, since autumn 2026, which is where most of this gets written. The work is still the same work: sit down with the owner, understand the business, write it down, then build.

What drives the way this is run?

The honest version: dependence is a business model, and it is the one most software is sold on. Building the opposite means giving up the levers that make customers stay when they would rather not. That is a deliberate choice about what this company is for, and it is why exit points exist, why the brief is free, and why the first thing we do for a new client is usually to cancel something they are paying us nothing for.

Affluence is for influence, income is for impact. What the business earns is meant to go somewhere, not simply accumulate. That is not marketing, it is the reason the numbers are run this way.

Small, deliberately. Every discipline is owned by somebody with real depth in it rather than by whoever happens to be free. Languages are listed because a client in three markets needs to know who can speak to them.

Founded in Ireland, based in Cyprus, with people in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany. Reach and invoicing are different maps and we do not blur them.

Where does the work happen?

Larnaca, mostly. Mornings are for people and afternoons are for code, which is less a policy than an observation about what actually produces finished work.

Ireland remains home for Irish clients and the company's origin. Germany and the United Kingdom are covered by people who live there rather than by someone flying in.

Questions about the people

Who actually does the work?

Ray leads every engagement as architect, with specialists brought in where a project needs them: security and identity, legacy database integration, migration, onboarding. You are told who is doing what, and you can reach them.

How big is the team?

Small, deliberately, and spread across Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany. Every discipline is owned by somebody with real depth in it rather than by whoever is free.
